Line Editing

A line edit is a deep dive into the prose of the manuscript. This is the right option for manuscripts that are structurally in good shape but need a thorough review of the grammatical and linguistic elements with extensive sentence-level editing. Line edits emphasize style, flow, and grammar, and they generally come before copyedits. The line edit includes edits in Track Changes and comments about any narrative elements that could improve the manuscript.

How It Works:

  • I review the first few chapters of your manuscript.

  • We schedule a call to chat about the book (process, vision, etc.).

  • If we decide to move forward, we agree on a fee (typically around .06/word) and a schedule.

  • I send along a contract.

  • I get to work!

  • I send along a marked-up manuscript and a brief editorial memo (1 - 3 pages).

  • We schedule a follow-up call to discuss the edit and any questions you might have.
